Asturias is one of the regions with the highest consumption and production of refractories. As such it hosts a large number of manufacturers of these materials, some of them world-renowned multinational companies. It also has a great tradition in the production of mineral raw materials.

ITMA For the last 20 years ITMA has been researching the improvement of refractory materials and mineral raw materials and is one of the few European technological centres specialized in this field.

The specialities of the Area of refractory products and raw materials include:

The Area manages the Cluster de Refractorios of Asturias A.I.E.(CRAIE)
